In this bold, non-linear fiction with documentary elements, filmmaker Elia Suleiman tackles the issue of what it means to be a Palestinian today in psychological--rather than merely political or cultural--terms. Using several seemingly unconnected narrative threads, Suleiman (who plays himself in the film) creates a cohesive meditation on the unsettled state of life in his homeland. Winner for Best First Feature at the Venice Film Festival. Arabic with English subtitles.
