Fairuz, whose real name is actually Hoda Haddad, was born on November 21st, 195 in a poor but happy Lebanese family. Her passion for singing influenced her on joining the choir of her school, and a few years later, that of the Lebanese radio on which live shows were given.

She met Halim el Roumi on the occassion of a radio program. This one suggested her to have her name changed into Fairuz and introduced her to the Rabhani brothers. A fruitful collaboration started giving birth to this original form that symbolises so much of Lebanese music. In 1954, Fairuz married Assy Rahbani and gave birth to a son, named Ziad, two years later.

Beirut, Cairo, Damas, London, Paris, New York... Here is the intinerary of an artist who can be considered as the greatest diva of the Arabian world with Omme Kolsoum. A discreet diva who will suffer from her late break up with her husband and from the civil war in her beloved Lebanon.
