The Armenian folk song art, emanating from time immemorial, has reached us, having been verbally passed on from generation to generation. It witnesses and expresses the life of the ordinary people, their toil, thoughts and feelings, love and protest, humor and irony, the strength of their spirit and the beauty of their soul. Moreover, it bears the traces of historical events. This verbal imparting was always due to talented devotees, one of whom was Hayrik Mouradian (1905-2000).
Hayrik Mouradian was born in the village of Jnuk, Province Shatakh, Van, West Armenia, to the big patriarchal family of the Mouradians. He inherited his love for the ancestor's songs and the melodious voice from his mother. The peaceful childhood of young Hayrik was interrupted by in 1915, when as a result of the tragic events of the Armenian the people of Shatakh were extradited from their homelands.
