Jooya was raised in Persia and moved to Vienna to study music. There, she received a classical musical education at the academy of music and earned a masters degree in opera at the Konservatorium of the City of Vienna.
Jooya is influenced by both the Oriental and European worlds. She currently performs at the Volksoper in Vienna. She is pursuing her singing career in both cultures.
“Safar Be Iran” or “Journey to Persia” follows her first album, “Persian Nights”. It was received well internationally due to its new interpretation of traditional songs influenced by western music. Both albums are an example of the beauty of different ethnic music from Iran.
This recording is a step towards commonness and understanding for those who are open to and listen to music from other cultures.
