In spite of its common roots, shared myths and mutual dialects, the
rural music from various regions of Iran enjoys a broad diversity of
style. Iranian rural music comprises rhythmic and joyful melodies as
well as non-metrical (chanting) songs. These folk songs are not
ascribed to a certain composer or lyricist, but rather belong to the
people whose region perpetuated the musical treasures through the
oral tradition. Sima Bina presents Melodies of the Sahara to share the
songs that belong to the people whose joys and sorrows are
embodied in these rural rhythms.
