These are exciting times for lifelong friends and musical compadres, better known to their global audience as the innovative World Beat/Urban Groove guitar and keyboard duo Shahin & Sepehr. They have just completed their latest recording, which began in the summer of 2001 in two separate studios.
"This time we approached our writing totally differently than the previous recordings," states Shahin, the guitarist for the duo. "Sepehr and I each worked separately on a collection of songs which we later merged for further development. This process certainly added a great sense of spontaneity which is essential to our eclectic experience."
Combining their soulfully rhythmic and melodic, guitar based exotica with exciting Persian elements, the music on their sixth Higher Octave Music recording Nostalgia beautifully anticipates a return to the land of their Persian heritage.
The provocative and emotional collection, their first studio recording since 1998's World Café and first overall since 2000's retrospective East-West Highway: The Best of Shahin & Sepehr, finds them looking back whimsically at the world they left behind but whose culture and inspiration is still an ever-present part of their lives, musically and otherwise.
