  
Ziad Doueiri, a cameraman whose resume includes several Quentin Tarantino productions, left Hollywood behind to make this impressive directorial debut. Based on his own childhood memories, the film follows three friends trying their best to have a normal adolescence even as civil war tears their city apart and youthful joy gives way to tragedy.
